SAM-YOLO: An Improved Small Object Detection Model for Vehicle Detection

Abstract

SAM-YOLO improves the detection of small objects in vehicle images. It combines segmentation cues in the style of SAM with a YOLO detection backbone. The method addresses the trade-off between recall on small objects and inference cost.
